The Greenhouse/They Have Become the Forest

Join us for the joint production of The Greenhouse by J. Harvey Stone and workshop presentation of They Have Become the Forest by Aly Kantor.

The Greenhouse: “Where Have All The Flowers Gone?” - Peter, Paul, and Mary

It's 1972, and a group of five undergraduate men meet every Tuesday and Thursday night at a greenhouse on the campus of the College of William & Mary. They gather together in this queer safe space that seems to have been a haven for the college's gay men for many years. The threat of a new club on campus has the men worried as they come to terms with what they mean to each other and how much they need the greenhouse.

They Have Become the Forest

Many Greek myths begin and end in the forest of Arcadia. Most of them end with the death or transformation of the women involved. 'they have become the forest' imagines the lives of two such women before their myth begins—the naiads Daphne and Sy, members of Artemis’s hunt. In this campfire story, they fall in love, grapple with consumption, identity, and courage, and leave audiences with a powerful call to action to support their queer loved ones in a dynamic, often unsafe world.
