Join Heather Wallen, Cody James, and Rene Zabel for a night all about playwrighting! Heather Wallen will lead a workshop starting at 6pm with a Panel with all three playwrights to end the night. Admission and Participation by donation.
Rene Zabel is a playwright, composer, and lyricist based in Charles Town, WV. She holds a BFA in Psychology from University of Arizona. Rene uses her degree in Psychology and a love of folklore and mythology frequently in writing plays, such as Mother Solstice, A Rare Case, Deirdre: A Musical Legend, and Beware the Muse. Her solo musical, When the Silence Sings, was a finalist in the Rave Theater Festival in 2020 and the 2019 Producer’s Perspective: Producer’s Pick. Rene was also selected for the Kennedy Playwriting Intensive for 2022.
She is a member of the Dramatist Guild and Experts Theater Company.

Cody is a theatre maker specializing in writing, directing and designing engaging theatre experiences with groups local to Western Maryland and Eastern West Virginia. Cody received their MA in Drama and Theatre Studies at NUI Galway in 2020 and is the full time Technical Director and company member at Maryland Ensemble Theatre. Cody is also a founding member of Red Hill Theatre Group.
Heather Wallen is currently based out of Martinsburg WV. She is the Artistic Director at the Apollo Civic Theatre as well as the President and Artistic Director for The Roving Peregrine Theatre Company. You can find her plays on New Play Exchange and follow her on Facebook.
